The Orabis is a video magnifier with a 22" screen
The Orabis easily magnifies text and images onto its 22" screen with a magnification range from 2x up to 20x. Just turn the knob in the center of the Orabis to change the magnification. You can also change the colors from picture mode to negative, positive or any other combination.
The Orabis also reads printed material to you out loud!
Many people with low vision are tired after reading text for just 15 minutes, so reading a long article is almost impossible. With the Orabis, you can get help for your eyes by having the material read aloud to you. This is what separates the Orabis from any other CCTV.
Here's how it works... With the column selector (the vertical line in the middle of the screen), you can easily select a text block or a column on the screen to read. Press the start button and 2 seconds later the voice starts reading the text to you! A rectangle around the word follows the text. That way you have a clear overview and you know your exact reading position. By having text read to you, you can reduce the magnification while having a better overview. You only need to select the text and press a button to hear the text. It's a whole new way of reading which enables you to read quicker and longer without having to move your text around on the screen -- no more of seasick feeling you get with other magnifiers.
And here's an convenient feature. After having Orabis read a block of text for you and you move the printed material down so you can read the next section, you don't have to be too precise about the placement. This is because Orabis remembers where it left off, repeating just the last phrase or so of the last section, if present, and then continues on reading the new block of text.
